Filmotech

If you need to manage all the movies in your collection, and if you want to do so for free, then I advise you to give the Filmotech application a try. With this free movie cataloguing tool, you can create a database and easily add your movies to it. You can manually enter any details you want, or you can let the application look up movie info online and add it automatically. On top of that, you can use the Filmotech application to manage loans and view statistics about your movie collection.

You can install Filmotech on your Windows-powered machine in one of two supported languages: English and French. Just download an executable, run it, and a setup wizard will guide you through the installation process. Once the installation completes and you run Filmotech for the first time, you will be presented with a wizard that will help you configure the application – you will get to create your first database and select a few preferences.

Filmotech’s interface is divided into three panes. The one in the upper left presents a list of all the movies in your collection. Select a movie and you will see its poster in the pane in the bottom left hand side; info on the selected movie is presented in the large pane in the right hand side. Above these panes there’s a bar with buttons for all the different features Filmotech has to offer.

All the movie info you enter is stored in an SQLite database. You can manually enter a movie and associated info, or you can let Filmotech check online and automatically download info about a movie. It can automatically download the movie’s poster, title, genre, runtime, cast, trailer link, and more.

If you have a large collection of movies, chances are that friends are going to want to borrow some. Filmotech helps you stay on top of loans. It helps you keep track of the movies you loaned and easily see who borrowed movies from you.
